3 Main Problems of Having a Dry Skin and How to Solve It
Dry skin may be free from oil and grease, but that doesn’t mean it is safe from other skin problems.
The fact is every skin types has its own sets of problems. While oily skin needs an extra mile to avoid acne and grease, dry skin type is the complete opposite.
The reason behind having a dry skin is caused by multiple factors such as cold weather or the type of cosmetics used. On top of that, the lack of hydration from internal and external can also cause a significant impact on the skin. For those of you who suffers from dry skin, you may be familiar with the following skin problems.
Dull appearance
The slow production of natural oil from sebaceous gland in your skin may cause dry skin. Naturally, normal production of oil is needed to keep your skin looking healthy and glowing. But sometimes it doesn’t produce enough oil to moisturize, hence making the skin looking dry and dull. This also means the make up applied onto your skin will not absorb and stay well, making it hard to conceal the imperfections.
Prone to irritation
The drier your skin is, the easier it would be for your skin to be irritated. This can be seen from the sensitivity level towards skin care products that is unsuitable for your skin (example face cleanser). This may cause rashes that will eventually peel.
Prone to wrinkles
It’s not rocket science to figure out that having dry skin means fine lines will appear more easily. Some areas that can show obvious wrinkles are side of eye, lips and forehead.
The following are some ways to solve dry skin problems.
- Don’t wash your face too often with cleanser as it can scrape away the natural moisture of the skin. Wash your face with cleanser only 2 times a day and rinse it off with cool water. Warm water can make your skin even more dry.
- Limit the exfoliation. Exfoliation process is needed for dry skin types, but remember to limit it to only 1 times a week to avoid unwanted irritation.
- Always moisturize. Focus on prevention-rather than medication. Give some love to your skin and moisturize it every day, rather than moisturize only after it is dry.
